- Discuss Dante the author (DTA) choice of guide and that guide's relationship with Dante the character (DTC). Why this guide? How do they interact? Why does DTA describe DTC this way? Give several examples (quotes) from Cantos 1-7. Whom would you pick, and why?
- Discuss some of the representative characters DTC meets in each of the places he visits. How does DTA describe these characters and the settings they are in? Why? Quote, don't just summarize, the descriptions. Now discuss one person you woud put in one of these circles, and explain why.
